There is so much more to this life than what I thought.
I’ve been thinking about my end goal lately. So often I would think of it as “serve in such-and-such a ministry” or “be married” or “be living on the mission field” or “work such-and-such a job” or “graduate from such-and-such a school.” But Jesus has so much more for me than what I can stuff into a simple square box. I need to learn to look outside the box at Jesus. He has been teaching me to wrap my mind around that concept.
Not only do I do this whole categorization with my life, I also repeat the pattern with others. My foolish, judgmental heart would often say to another, “You need to pursue ministry over school,” or “Why are you trying to work that job”? or “Why don’t you just go to Bible college?” or “Why aren’t you serving there?” But Christianity, and more importantly knowing Jesus, cannot be shoved into some category labeled “ministry” or “missions.” Honestly, Christ has created a specific and personal plan for each of us. And it’s hard for me to realize that that is going to differ among everyone. Although these areas may be where my own hearts yields, they are not the only way to follow Jesus.
Overall, I am still so narrow-minded and asking Jesus to change me.
